Angela Bradley

Social Enterprise & Philanthropy

Angela is the Social Enterprise & Philanthropy at Community Living Toronto. She has been involved with the charitable sector both personally and professionally for most of her life. Since graduating with an Honours degree in psychology from Queen’s University, has completed post-graduate work at York University in not-for profit management and is a degree seeking student in the MBA program of the School of Business and Non-profit Management at North Park University.

Muhammed Irshad

Camp Director

Muhammed has been with Community Living Toronto for over 30 years, going all the way back to when he worked three summers at Shadow Lake in 1987, 1988 and 1989. After graduating from the Humber College Developmental Services Worker (DSW) program in 1991, Muhammed started working full time with Community Living Toronto. He has since supervised and managed both residential and day support programs. Muhammed was the Manager of Shadow Lake Centre for five years before becoming the Camp Director in the summer of 2021.

Marisa Grasse

Property Manager

Marisa has been overseeing the property and facilities at Shadow Lake since 2001. She is responsible for ensuring that all buildings are clean and in good working order, the management of all new building projects, and meeting all health and safety requirements. Marisa comes from a landscaping background and is certified in the Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems. Previous employers include the Children’s Aid Society and Black Creek Pioneer Village.

Claire Summerhayes

Camp Supervisor

Claire started working at Shadow Lake Centre in 2017 and has since taken on multiple roles at camp, including healthcare staff and coordinator. After graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in 2022, Claire pursued a year of nursing in cardiac care, but is grateful to announce she will be returning to her second home for Summer 2023 in a new role! With a passion for providing inclusive care and working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Claire is so excited to reconnect with her Shadow Lake family and make many new memories this summer!

Shannon Buttery

Program Coordinator

Summer 2023 is Shannon’s fifth summer at Shadow Lake, and it has easily become one of her favourite places to spend her summer. Camp has been part of Shannon’s life as a student and graduate of Recreation and Leisure Services. Being the Program Coordinator at a place like Shadow Lake is a unique and rewarding experience that Shannon is continually grateful to be a part of. All of that said, what truly makes camp is the phenomenal individuals she has had the privilege of getting to know. “Camp energy is unmatched and seems to get stronger every year I return,” Shannon says. “Can't wait for another summer at the lake!”

Kyra Maher

Counselling Coordinator A

Kyra started working at Shadow Lake Centre as a counsellor in 2021 and was presented with the opportunity to be a Counselling Coordinator for summer 2023. After completing her undergraduate program in Psychology at Brock University, Shadow Lake Centre has opened Kyra’s eyes to pursue her master’s degree in Applied Disability Studies starting in Fall 2023. With a passion for community and inclusivity, Kyra is grateful to be returning to camp and making more fantastic memories!

Thea Wei

Counselling Coordinator B

Thea first started working at Shadow Lake Centre in Summer 2022 and has been part of the family since. As she pursues her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Waterloo majoring in Psychology, she has always been passionate about caring for others and spreading love and support. In Summer 2023, Thea is grateful to have the opportunity to share more wonderful memories with everyone at Shadow Lake as Counselling Coordinator. She can't wait to make memorable and magical moments with old and new friends!

Sara Khanji

Healthcare Coordinator

Sara started her journey “at the lake” in 2022 as a healthcare team member and got the opportunity to lead an amazing team as a Healthcare Coordinator for summer 2023 while aspiring to be a medical student. By far, being a part of a close-knit community such as Shadow Lake has been a thrilling and rewarding experience for her. Sara enjoys playing table tennis and loves to travel whenever she can, pinning down 20+ countries on the map so far! Her favourite part about being at camp is connecting with guests and working for what she is passionate about.

Dieter Alvarenga

Communication Coordinator

Since joining Shadow Lake Centre in 2020, Dieter's growth has been awe-inspiring. As an international student from Brazil, he started as a Camp Counselor, discovering a world of new experiences, love, and acceptance at camp. His journey continued as he became a Counselling Coordinator in 2021, then embraced the challenge of being both Healthcare and Communication Coordinator last summer, utilizing his pharmacy degree, biotechnology diploma, and passion for creativity and arts. Now, in his second year as Communication Coordinator, Dieter thrives in creating an inclusive, caring, and creatively interactive environment, just like a big family. With his infectious love for dance, he spreads joy, creates magical moments, and brightens everyone's day with his contagious smile.
